I don’t even remember how many times I have visited Delhi, though the reasons are not similar all the time. But most often I visit the place with no particular reason.

Since most of my friends stays in the National capital, it gives me a good reason to visit Delhi. Few days back, I packed my bags and set out to Delhi again. Though I have explored most of the popular destinations, I don’t mind visiting again. I stayed with one of my friends in North Delhi and passed around two days by meeting some other friends. Shopping in the streets of Delhi is what I like most. Staying near the University of Delhi and not visiting the Kamla Nagar market is not my cup of tea. So, it was the first shopping destination of this Delhi visit. I along with my friiend strolled on the streets of the market the whole evening. I did some street shopping by buying things like ethnic jeweleries, clothes, purse and lots more. I just love spending time in this colorful market of the northern part of this capital city.

The other day I paid a visit to the land mark of the National capital. India Gate is a place which I don’t dare to miss which is always crowded with people. Be it the localities or the tourists, it is a nice place to spend some quality time and witness the majesctic architecture along with paying respect to the thousands of soldiers who lost their lives in the safeguard of the nation. There is a different kind of fervour associated with this place. You will automatically feel a sense of peace and enjoyment in the vicinty of the India Gate. The local people are seen flocking to the place during the evenings. You can witness a mix of different colors of people from different regions of the globe gathering in the place. It truly represents Delhi being a city with a mix of diverse ethnic groups. After spending some time there, I went to Delhi Haat, one of the places which I loved visiting again and again. Different flavor of Delhi in Majnu Ka Tila

Want to have a different taste of Delhi? Visit Majnu Ka Tila, a Tibetan refugee colony with lots of surprises in store. From the time I came to Delhi for my studies, I heard a lot about the place. This is a small place with big wonders.

Located on the bank of the River Yamuna, Majnu Ka Tila is very close to the Delhi University. Though I have been planning to visit this place for long time, my first visit came as a disappointment as it was almost closed. After some days, I again made a visit to this place this time with a group of friends. Though we were not acquainted much with the place, it came out to be pretty fascinating. This can be termed as an urban village completely self-sustained by the Tibetans, the main source of income being the shops, cafes, restaurants and travel agencies.

Reaching the place and strolling on the narrow alleys of Majnu Ka Tila, we first had an overview of the place. After that we started our main exploration. While in the place, you will forget that you are in Delhi. It feels like going to another world with the ladies in traditional Tibetan dresses and the surrounding areas. Girls can engage in shopping some exquisite silver and metal jewelry which these ladies sell on the streets. The sights of monks in red playing chess around the monastery and the side of the narrow lanes are very common. The smell of incenses and momos swirls in all directions coming out of the houses and the restaurants.

After exploring the market and shopping some unique pieces of attires and accessories we entered a restaurant. The coffee was really good and refreshing which was much needed after walking around the place for nearly two hours. We then tasted the delicious chicken momos and some other mouth-watering dishes. Though the eatery was a small one, it was hygienic and the ambience created there was pretty different. The unique decoration of the restaurant accompanied by soothing music, it was a perfect place to enjoy the food it offers.
